WOMEN IN TECH
WOMEN IN TECH
At BCX we are passionate about diversity and inclusion, not only in our own ranks, but throughout the South African business world and the wider community. The Women in Tech project is an initiative spearheaded by our Chief Marketing Officer, Mandisa Ntloko-Petersen, providing support and networking opportunities for women in tech. The Fourth Industrial Revolution is in full swing and women in the industry play a critical role in this key sector at every level. So the aim of the initiative is to devise concrete ways to strengthen the female pipeline for the industry, while raising awareness of the role of women in Information and Communications Technology (ICT).
This Women in Tech blog will feature relevant content and showcase women in the industry who have contributed to change within their companies or the communities in which they operate. By highlighting successful women, we pay homage to their efforts within the ICT sector. We realise that technology has a major influence not just on how we run our businesses, but also on how we live and play. We want to acknowledge female decision-makers, influencers, and disrupters in different vertical markets and society at large.
We hope that through the creation of this platform, coupled with the annual Women’s Day event, featuring women who are positive role models, we will inspire younger women to join the ICT sector. In August 2019 BCX once again partnered with ITWebBrainstorm to present the BCX Women in Tech Forum.
For Mandisa, engagement is key: “Once young women are employed in the sector, we have to keep challenging them with continuous learning and encourage them. Millennials want to hear that they’re doing great.”
