What is Mobile Value-Added Services?

Business Mobility adds value to the standard mobile service portfolio by offering you a host of value-added services, designed to make doing business that much simpler and cost-effective.

Our value-added services include:

  • Billing Hierarchies (Free service) – Billing Hierarchies enable optimal use of Telkom Mobile’s network services and provide robust, financial control over enterprise-wide mobile telecoms expenses. Allocate your mobile telecoms spend to specific areas or business units within your organisation. Cost centres can be categorised based on region, department, business area, project etc.

  • Split Billing (Free Service) – Split Billing provides an employer with the ability to set a rand value allowance (e.g. R 300 monthly) and service restrictions (e.g. monthly allowance will not cover MMS usage) on an employee’s mobile account. The employee is thereafter responsible for any additional charges over and above the allowance, as well as for services not permitted by the employer.

  • Spend Limit (Free Service) – Spend limits can be assigned per level or individually per employee. Spend limits is set on the subscription and enforces a limit on the usage for that subscription. Spend limits do not impact the current split billing arrangement. Spend limits are enforced in real-time in order to limit any time-lag to enforce spend limits ensuring that employees and organisations know exactly when they have reached their spend limit, with no surprises at the end of the month.

  • Caller Line Identification Presentation (CLIP) (R 8.50 per month) – Caller Line Identification Presentation (CLIP), allows you to see the number of an incoming call on your cellphone’s screen. The phone number of the caller appears on your screen prior to answering the call. Business convenience with the ability to screen your own calls and to know who is calling prior to answering.

  • Itemised Billing (IB) (R 17.00 per month) – Itemised Billing allows you to see the details of every call you have made such as the date and time of the call, duration and cost of the call including SMS’s, MMS’s, Data and roaming calls. Every call you make including the date, time, duration and cost is detailed in a monthly report, which is sent to you with your monthly bill. You can keep control and record of all calls made on your cellphone, giving you the advantage of being aware of what calls were made throughout the month for increased cost efficiency.

  • International Roaming (IR) (Free Service) – International roaming allows the continuation of cell phone use whilst out of South Africa. Local callers can contact you, where ever you are internationally for business efficiency. Two options are available namely SMS Roaming and Full roaming (Voice, SMS and Data usage).

  • Messaging Bundles (Ad-hoc and Recurring) – Messaging Bundles can be used for both SMS and MMS messages. There are two types of Messaging Bundles, Once-off Messaging Bundles and Recurring Messaging Bundles. The bundle cost is the same for both Once-off and Recurring bundles (see the tariffs below). The difference is that Recurring Messaging Bundles have the added benefit of low out of bundle rates.

  • Data Bundles (Ad-hoc and Recurring) – There are two types of Data Bundles, Once-off Data Bundles and Recurring Data Bundles. The bundle cost is the same for both Once-off and Recurring bundles (see the tariffs below). Furthermore, Data Bundles can be differentiated for All-net and Telkom Mobile Network bundles.

  • Call Forward – Call forwarding is a feature that allows an incoming call to a called party, which would be otherwise unavailable, to be redirected to a mobile telephone or other telephone number where the desired called party is situated. Calls forwarded to another telephone number will incur costs, as this is seen as a new call made.

  • Multi-Party Conferencing / Teleconferencing – A method of enabling a mobile phone to invite multiple remote parties for a remote multiparty conference through a mobile phone service network. This enables up to five concurrent members to be added to a mobile conference at the same time.

  • Call Waiting – Call Waiting is a supplementary service that shall alert the mobile user about an incoming call should he/she be busy on another call.

  • Call Barring – Call Barring is a supplementary service that determines a subscriber’s ability to roam on foreign networks as well as a subscriber’s ability to make calls to international destinations. This feature also allows for subscribers to configure settings that will either unlock / lock all outgoing calls and or incoming calls.

  • Call Hold – Call Hold is supplementary services that shall enable the subscriber to place a caller on hold (either to accept another call etc.) thereafter resume with the call which was placed on hold.

  • Telkom Mobile Please Call Me – Is a free network service offered to all TM subscribers should they have no airtime and would still like to contact a friend or a colleague. Dial 140cell phone number#. You can also access the Telkom Mobile Call Me menu by dialling *140#.

  • Missed Call Notification – Missed Call Notification (MCN) lets you know you have missed a call, even if your phone is switched off, or you have been out of signal range. Messages are always day and time stamped.

  • Balance Enquiry – Prepaid and Hybrid Subscribers shall be able to check or verify their airtime credit, voice minutes, SMS bundles, data bundles, validity period for any remaining bundles, and unused credit limit and airtime window via USSD, IVR, SMS or online portal. Dial *188#.
