Business Connexion has reaffirmed two of its company values Passion - to live with heart and Make a Difference – live with compassion by pledging its support for the 2011 Cancer Association of South Africa’s (CANSA) Shavathon, which took place on 04 March 2011.
“I believe through taking part and supporting this initiative, we show solidarity for millions of cancer patients who go through the process of losing their hair due to chemotherapy treatment”, says Benjamin Mophatlane, CEO at Business Connexion.
All employees from our offices around the country which include Midrand, Pretoria, Sandton, East London, Port Elizabeth, Durban and Cape Town were invited to join by either having their hair shaved or sprayed as an alternative. Services that included Prostate and Mammogram screening were made available at some of our offices and some had guest speakers to add further value to the day.
“We decided to host the Shavathons at our premises because it was an ideal team building opportunity and it enhances employee’s wellbeing”, continues Mophatlane.
Vanessa Olver, CFO at Business Connexion commented that all proceeds from the Shavathon will contribute towards improving cancer facilities, research, prevention, support and early detection of the illness in South Africa.
“We agree with CANSA that the Shavathon did not only show our understanding for those fighting cancer, but also honoured those who have passed on and created an opportunity to join in the fight against cancer”, stressed Olver.
Mophatlane concluded, “BCX continues to support the communities we live and work in and being part of such an important initiative was non-negotiable”.
